About me
Freelance copyeditor for academic and trade nonfiction presses, work that comes in project-shaped waves rather than a steady schedule, which is part of why some months I post three times and some months once. Been in the hobby about eight years, ever since my brother-in-law Marcus talked me into a game of Blood Rage at a family gathering I was mostly trying to survive.
I've been freelance copyediting for two small academic presses and one trade nonfiction imprint for about nine years now, which is the only reason I had the patience for an 800-page book about hormones this year. The rest of my time goes to reading and to a Thursday night board game group that's been meeting in some form since before I moved to this side of town. I write about both here: books I actually finished and have something to say about, and games that have earned or lost a place on my shelf. No schedule, no star-rating spreadsheet, just whatever I read or played most recently that's still rattling around in my head.
Where I am: Asheville, North Carolina
Currently three chapters into a reread of a book I gave four stars the first time around. We'll see if it holds.
What's here
Book reviews, board game reviews, and personal essays. No schedule, no affiliate links, nothing sponsored. I write about a book or a game after I've actually finished it and have something to say, which is why the dates on here are irregular.
